MARCO GRASSI
Short Bio
Born in Milan in 1966 and based in Lugano, Marco has developed a distinctive pictorial language that celebrates female identity through portraits of an ethereal and sophisticated aesthetic. His style, which has evolved from vigorous, textured brushstrokes to a more introspective refinement, blends pure decoration and analytical realism. In his most recent works, the complicity between the subject and the observer is emphasised by bold backgrounds that reflect the psychological intensity and silence of the faces portrayed. Present at major international fairs such as Art Basel and the Moscow Art Fair, in 2011 he was selected for the inauguration of the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, consolidating his position among the leading figures in contemporary figurative art.
